Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels Orange County

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that uses a solution to remove the damaged outer layers of skin. The solution typically contains a combination of alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta-hydroxy acids (BHAs), or trichloroacetic acid (TCA), which causes the dead skin to peel off, revealing smoother, more youthful-looking skin underneath. Chemical peels are used to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, uneven skin tone, sun damage, age spots, and acne scarring. They can also help to unclog pores and stimulate collagen production for firmer, more radiant skin. The depth and type of chemical peel will determine the intensity of the treatment and the recovery time required.

Treatment

A chemical peel is a quick 20 treatment. First your skin is cleaned thoroughly. Then a chemical peel solution is applied to an area of your skin. This chemical peel solution starts to create a controlled wound so that new skin can replace the older skin cells. Most people will feel a burning sensation during the treatment that lasts about five to ten minutes, followed by a stinging sensation. Applying cool compresses may help decrease discomfort.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

  • Improving skin texture and tone by removing dead skin cells
  • Reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
  • Brightening dull and tired-looking skin
  • Unclogging pores to minimize breakouts
  • Stimulating collagen production for firmer skin
